These two new tracks - “Bubbles Dream (Entrance)” and “Tribes In Your Apartment” - are part of a wider project called “Tribes. Dreams and Rituals”. where sUb_modU set the boundaries of a well defined Working Area.
Inside this area one can freely move, get acquainted with its contents, experiment with possibilities, unleash his creativity and grow.

While sUb_modU’s recent remixes for Anchorsong and Mop Mop have contained a noticeable dancefloor focus, “Bubbles Dream” single incorporates in both track the original roots of the primal form of music as a collective ritual.

WORKING AREA
The Tribe is the ensemble that crafts the music for rituals, dances and celebrations.
The Tribe is the first group of people who began playing music together.

DEFINITION OF BOUNDARIES
Capture the solid foundations of the tribal composition and use it a starting point.

The solid foundations, whether spontaneous or collective are thereafter transferred to the electronic music (deliberated and individualistic) composed and played with 4 machines (analog or virtual/analog).

Aiming at not using the computer to create the sound.

Assign to each electronic machine a pertaining role inside the Tribe/Ensemble.
For example give to the drum machine the role of the section of the tribe clapping hands or banging on metal and wooden objects or pumpkin drums,
or attribute to the synths and tonal percussions the task of singing and playing the Theme in the form of Mantra (loop).

Poor Harmony: use only scales of a few notes, typical of tribal compositions.

Rich Rhythms: use polyrhythms as the predominant element of the compositions.

Do not use Samples: the challenge here is in the curiosity induced by the discovering of the mood built up from scratch with the machines, and not "re-covered" by recordings that would easily recall the tribal mood.

Do not use Bass, or bass lines. Use very low drums (or the bass drum).

Bend the drum machine to the rhythmic function of the tribe, trying to get groove and naturalness as much as possible.

Draw stories, dreams and travels. Dance and clap your hands!

Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist who lives shuttling between Berlin and his hometown Aosta, in Italy.
